Visualize this: you awake after a sublime night's sleep on a just-soft-enough mattress. You walk out on your balcony and look to the horizon: there's not a thing but hue after hue of heavenly blue. You take a deep breath, then give yourself a pinch, then say out loud, "Am I really here in all this beyond-my-imagination-island-perfection?"

Amazing Vacation, Beautiful HUmble People.
OK SO I NEVER POST REVIEWS BUT WE JUST RETURNED LAST NIGHT FROM THE RESORT...WE WERE THERE FOR 5 DAYS celebrating my husband 40th birthday..so where and how do I start..from the time you walk on the property you're treated like KING and Queen (whatever applies) of the Town...They never undermine the fact that you are one of thousands at the resort. Your greeted with a smile and very firm handshake.. before you get a chance to sit down and check in your asked if you like a drink.watersports included with the price you pay for the resort..kayaking, sailing, speed boat, glass bottom boat Ride..The food in some restaurants were much better than other..Seaside grill by the pool on St James side was GREAT!!! for dinner as well as the mexican EL Tapito (?) best meal was the pork chop tender and very tasty...for breakfast at the world cafe the server Oraldo (the singing guy) and kerri Ann serenaded my husband and I with a duet for his 40th bday service was EXceptional.. I mean I can go on and on EVERYTHING was top of the line.. entertainment, grounds keeping, lighting at night, room service was even SUPERB

The Perfect Getaway
This is the first vacation that I'd ever just taken with a friend. We planned it, we paid for it, we roomed together. It was the best money we'd ever spent.
The rooms are beautiful, and the suite that I had had a beautiful ocean view. The beds are almost obnoxiously comfortable-we ended up taking so many naps just because we made the mistake of sitting on the beds before we did anything, haha! Though we went as friends, the rooms are really made for couples, so there was a loverly jacuzzi, soft robes, a rain shower with a detachable showerhead... all of the perfect *ahem* twosome accomodations. Either way, they were welcome luxuries just the same. Housekeeping and room service are quick and thorough- but you *MUST* have your privacy light on if you don't want to be disturbed. They don't really wait long to come in after knocking, lol.
The grounds are absolutely stunning. The beach is immaculate and practically rock free. Go walking at night along the beach- the tropical fish really come out at night! Though you will find your fishy friends in the daytime too, the night is when it really all comes to life. The pools are heated and come with floats you can be nice and lazy on. There are servers who will take your drink orders from the poolside or beachside and then bring them to you. Oh, the drinks! Free-flowing! You've never seen more easily accessible liquor. PACE YOURSELF!
The staff are amazing! They are so sweet and crave legitimate conversation, not just tips. And if they love you, you get the inside scoop- best deals for excursions, best food, best spots in Montego Bay off the beaten path, hot island gossip, etc. I definitely recommend spending nights at the piano bar- Rayon and the boys are sweethearts. And if you want to go offsite, your best bet are the red vests that hang about the resort gatways. There is a very, very good chance they will come out a better deal than the resort-organized excursions.
The food was delicious. I know that there have been complaints, but look at it this way: the food is just Jamaican versions of the original cuisines. They don't have imported or transplant chefs, lol. They're all Jamaican. For that, the food is excellent, and better if you get seafood or a typical jamaican dish. Otherwise, it's just ok.
So yeah, that was my experience. If I had any complaints, they would be the privacy issue, and perhaps the lack of non-couple oriented activities. But both can be fixed by careful use of the privacy light and careful budgting of your excursion money for off-site activities respectively. But honestly, all of the pros outweigh the very few cons. You will have the time of your life here. I promise. :D
This resort is really nice, clean, and fun. My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and had a blast. They have nightly shows/events that are entertaining.
My only issue was at checkout. We had to catch a shuttle to the airport and inorder to get on this, we had to have a checkout card. When I went to get this, the front desk staff said I had to pay my outstanding charges, which I of course was willing. However, the amount they told me was comletely off. They charged me for use of a ipod (which I did not) and told me a massage coupon my wife and I got for viewing the time share tour was not applied. They refunded me the ipod charge, but could not find the coupon we gave them. Then they told me it was only a $60 coupon when in actuality it was a $100. As I tried to explain and them trying to get the spa manager to agree, my shuttle left with my luggage on it to the airport.
Needless to say, we had a flight to catch and I paid the amount, but now I have to contend the issue with my credit card company and the resort.
Enjoy the resort, but be cautios of the coupons and things you buy there. Keep all the receipts.
My new wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon for 10 days and cannot imagine being in a nicer place. The grounds were immaculate, the staff was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Even though we were there for 10 days, we never felt bored. With the entertainment staff, the watersports, the games, and the casino, there was always something to do. The pools and the beach were beautiful. We decided to upgrade to the preferred club so we could get a nicer room. The regular junior suites were beautiful but since it was our honeymoon, we splurged a bit and upgraded. We had a butler who made all of our dinner reservations and always had our Jacuzzi tubs filled when we came in from dinner. I surprised my wife with the beach side dinner they offer. I'd suggest that everyone take advantage of that. We were so relaxed that we never even felt the need to go to the spa. The adult drinks are plentiful and I found that the more I tipped, the stronger my drinks were. I would come back the this resort in a heatbeat. I would recommend this place for any couple honeymooning or just looking for a romantic getaway. It's a fantastic experience for a fantastic value.

how was the beach? is it stunning?11 answers
is there local shopping such as street vendors so you get the jamaican feel or very commercial?
3 years, 46 months ago
Beach is GREAT! Large, palm trees everywhere. Very good snorkeling off the pier and the north part of the complex. clean beaches, pools a few steps away. white sand. definitely some of the better beaches from what we've seen at other resorts.
Shopping- the new area has a great shopping area, and nightly themed open-air bazaars- very well done. But for the real thing, head up to Playa del Carmen (GO IN EVENING- not as hot) for great shopping a local vibe.
I wouldn't classify the beach at the Conrad as "stunning" but it was nice, small and a bit rocky and it was actually a lagoon.
There are some shops and tabbacco shop. There is wood carvers on the beach and on weekends are crowded with vendors on the sidewalk walking to the restaurants.
The resort has craft folks come in on Wed night and they bring a good assortment of items. Wood carving seems to be the local craft, lots of animals and Bob Marleys. You will find better prices in Montego Bay and at the craft village if you venture off the resort. There are also shops in the resort which are nice better priced higher. Craft village had the best prices if you are good at negotiating and do not become overwhelmed by the women trying to get you into their "shops." I think the thing to remember wherever you buy is that these people have a high cost of living and they work hard. You are their source of income and if you feel you have paid a fair price then you have done well.
We did not go shopping outside of the resort, but one evening local vendors were selling their items at the resort and the prices were outrageous! We ended up not buying anything! You would have to take an excursion and we didn't feel like spending an entire day shopping!
Rose Hall had better beaches
We went last week and thought the beach was beautiful. However, that could be a matter of opinion. The water is a beautiful aqua color and perfectly clear. The beach is a fine off-white sand. The grounds are beautifully landscaped.
We did not leave the resort property so I cannot speak to your question regarding local shopping.
the beach is probably the worst , so many rocks . couple of vendors by the pool but that is about it
the resort brings in locals to display their wares on certain nights. There are a few set up on the resort too that do carvings. This is not very commercial. There is a strip off the beach near the restaurants that offer high end stuff too. This resort is well maintained, very slow pace and no pressure
WHEN YOU SEE IT YOU FALL IN LOVE ND NEVER WANNA GET OUT
I LOVED the beach!! I think most beaches in the Caribbean are stunning!! The beach is very large and has many sections to it since the resort has 4 parts ( 2 regular sides, 2 preferred sides). There were some small rocky sections but not intolerable and if you were to wear water shoes, you would be fine but all you really have to do is move about 4-5 feet down the beach and there weren't any rocks. Jellyfish season is occurring right now though, we were there 8/31/13-9/4/13, and there were a lot of them, moreso in the early morning and late, late afternooon..people and lifeguards removing them from the water.
Should I bring my own snorkeling gear to Secrets St. James in Montego Bay?11 answers
Just wondering how the snorkeling is from beach access.
3 years, 44 months ago
Cape Cod Travelers
You may want to bring your own snorkeling gear with you, as there is no snorkeling gear available on property. There is snorkeling available nearby, but that would be at an additional cost.
No, there was equipment there, free.
We didn't snorkle but you could see the fish by looking down in the water. There really weren't any exotic fish and they gathered by the rocks so you can just look at them by standing up and they were really small. Other guests that wanted to snorkle went on an excursion, but we did not know how that turned out.
gear at the resort nothing fancy if you go on a snorkeling day trip better equipment provided.
YES. They have only 3 -4 scheduled trips per day where they take you out in a supervised group around in a designated area. You cannot check out gear and go on your own when you want. But you will see amazing fish and sea life among the reefs very close to shore.
We did take our own snorkeling gear and did quite a bit of snorkeling around the beach area. There wasn't as much marine life as I expected. We just went and it is their hurricane season. I don't know if that played a role or not.
We didn't end up snorkeling, despite the resort saying it's free they do not have snorkel gear to be used. The free thing is a guided trip off the beach 3 times a day, at 10 11 and 2, which books up fast. If you have your own gear bring it, you can't rent it there from the resort (just individuals that work there, which we thought was weird). They offer snorkeling trips to other parts of the island/off a boat which would be better then the areas just off the beach. However there is definitely some stuff to be seen off the beach.
The snorkeling is awesome. You can swim right from the beach and encouter a load of fish. You can bring your own or it is available there too.
THEY HAD THEM OUT THERE PUT YOUR NAME ON THE LIST FOR THE TIME YOU WANNA SNORKEL LOL I SUCKED WATER KEPT GETTING IN BUT SO MUCK FUN FOR MY FIRST TIME
They offer gear there.
They do free half hour excursions twice a day and one that is about $40US for an hour. Both types include gear, so you don't have to bring your own.
Can someone describe the beds on the balconies? Are there beds on the beach also8 answers
I'd love to see any pictures of the beds on the balconies or beach. We stayed in a Real resort in Cancun that had the bed on the beach. It was by far our favorite thing about the resort.
3 years, 44 months ago
There are beds on the beach & by the pool. The balconies just have plastic patio furniture, unless you are on the ground floor, which had the same ratan furniture as the upper pool deck.
In our room we did not have any beds on our balconies. There were no beds on the beach on our side of the resort (we did not stay on the preferred side), but there was a fee to lay on one of the beds that was all the way out on the rocks overlooking the ocean.
No bed on the beach, but rather, the equivelant of a chaise lounge. No complaints. In the preferred suits, there are jacuzzis on the balconies with private entrance to a private pool which has a portion on your balcony. Very posh rooms.
they have the beds on the beach but not on the balcony...they are not covered but really comfortable and they do have umbrellas over them for shade....sorry no pix....
no beds on balcony , beach has a few but some are missing matts. get up early to get one
Here are some pictures of the beds on the beach that I took.
LOL YES AND TUB'S AND SHOWER'S I AM NEW TO THIS BUT IMMA TRY TO PUT UP A PIX FOR OF IT
That maybe on the Preferred Club side. Not anywhere else on the property that I saw
Is this Resort for Couples or could a group of girls go for a Girls Trip??11 answers
3 years, 43 months ago
While couples do book at Secrets, any adult is welcome.
Yes, it is exclusively for adults only. After that, singles, couples are there and can enjoy.
Mostly couples were there.
I did see some "girls get-a-ways" but mostly romantic couple atmosphere. I would not pick this for a girls gone wild weekend.
there are much more couples there. But i did some groups of women there also. but i think its more for couples because everything is so romantic
I think this is definitely a couples resort. But.. I think a group of girls would still have fun. There's really only one or 2 "night life" spots, though, so it might be worth looking at some more singles-oriented resorts if you looking for a good night life.
best for couples
saw alot of single groups
Group of girls is fine...you just may not see a group of guys..I just returned after taking my sister there to celebrate her 60th birthday. We had an asweome time!
YOU CAN GO FOR BOTH
I saw no single men! So if your looking to go just to have fun with the girls is ok. But if your looking to meet single guys you will be disappointed.
Are there any restrictions as far as womens swimwear is concerned?10 answers
3 years, 39 months ago
The resort requires bathing suits to be worn on the premises and they do not allow au natural sunbathing. As far as restrictions regarding the type of swim wear that can be worn, I would say a good rule of thumb would be that as long as the important parts are covered you should be fine.
It looked to us like a swimsuit was required but we saw bikinis and thongs so the type didn't seem to matter.
no nude or even topless also did not see any G stings
yes- it must be worn.
no...cover ups in restaurant
I SAW NONE CALL THEM THEY WILL KEEP IT REAL TOO YOU
I didn't see any thongs or any topless females. Not sure what the "rules" are, if any.
No, but I didn't see anything but normal swimwear on anyone.
Not sure but the women wore a variety of different swim suits

No, it is an adults only resort though.
My husband and I were there this month. We saw mostly couples. It's not a requirement but it appeared the majority of guests came in pairs.
Yes, this is a couple resort. We were there for a wedding and it was just wonderful.
I would not book thru CheapCaribbean as the experience with them was not good. Book direct.
its not ONLY couples but mostly, there were some guy-groups and girl-groups but mostly couples
it has been rare to encounter a single person at this resort. it is mostly couples.
Not couples only...but no kids either. There were a few groups of friends there, but for the most part it was couples.
nope - saw alot of single groups . big groups of singles
No, I just returned after taking my sister there to celebrate her 60th birthday. We were completely comfortable and noticed other non couples too. The couples out number non-couples, but it never mattered.
No Adults only....

Should we stay at st. James or wild orchid?11 answers
My husband and I are going to montego bay in January. I can't decide which of the two secrets to stay at. Help!
2 years, 32 months ago
The Secrets St. James and the Secrets Wild Orchid share the same amenities between each property. We have been advised by returning guests that the Secrets St. James is slightly quieter. The St. James portion of the property does house the spa for both properties. The Wild Orchid portion of the property holds the majority of the restaurants, the night club, and a pool that hosts daily activities. Your preference for quiet, or to be close to the action can be a factor in making your decision.
I don't think it really matters. The only difference I saw is that the restaurants are more on the Wild Orchid side but it is so beautiful there that who wouldn't want to walk 5 extra steps?!
I don't know what the rooms at Wild Orchid look like, but the room we stayed in at St. James was very nice, comfy, quiet and romantic. I can tell you that the resorts are side by side in the same area and they share the same restaurants, entertainment/game area and shops which are all located on the Wild Orchid side of the resorts so it is busier in that area. If you do stay in the St. James resort you do have a 5 - 10 minute stroll to get to eat , shop and play, but we preferred it that way.
Sandy, you will love it. The St. James and the Wild Orchid are two side-by-side resorts that are on the same property. Their entrances are maybe 100 feet from each other. Staying at either one entitles you to participate in any activity at either resort. The spa is closer to the St. James. The restaurants, indoor and outdoor theaters are closer to the Wild Orchid. That said, they are all within a short walking distance from anywhere on the property. We wondered if the St. James might be a little quieter during the evenings since the outdoor theater hosted a number of bands with evening perfomances.
If you walk along the beach behind one you end up at the beach behind the other.
Both St James and Wild Orchid are the same rooms. It is well kept and a great resort. However, I would not book thru CheapCaribbean as they are not Customer Support driven.
I can't say too much about Wild Orchid because we actually stayed at St. James. They are right next to each other and you can visit both pools no matter where you stay. Our room in St. James was very nice but I don't know how it stacks up to Wild Orchid? The only difference is the room so try to find out more about that. You have the same access to everything else no matter which one you stay in
Honestly they both share all of the resort, so choose either one! St James is to the left closer to the Spa & Gym, where the Wild Orchid is closer to the eateries and the entertainment.
i like st. james because its a little more distant from the "ammentities" of the resort- basically its a little more quiet.
go to a different resort
I stayed at the St. James side (whch was a little less expensive). You have access to both resorts. The Wild Orchid side has most of the entertainment going on at night, so if you want a more quiet vacation, you'd want to stay at St. James so you don't hear the outdoor live entertainment. The resorts are so close together, that to me, there's no reason to stay on the Wild Orchid side. The stroll between the two is beautiful, so it makes for a nice short walk.
THEY TOGETHER ST.JAMES IS WHERE WE STAYED BUT ALL PARTY'S AND FOODS ARE THE THE WILD ORCHID IT'S ALOT TO DO
Wild Orchid! I was disappointed I was at St. James. Everything and I do mean everything is on the Wild Orchid end all the restaurants and all but 1 bar. All the nightlife. Only the SPA is at St. James. And the walk from St. James to the other end is hot and tiring!!!

What is the advantage of booking the "Preferred" suite?11 answers
Is it worth booking the preferred suite vs the standard suite? What are the differences?
2 years, 29 months ago
The preferred club offers upgraded amenities and services such as complimentary internet access in-suite, private concierge service and exquisite deserts and liquor in the Preferred Club lounge.
Go preferred. The building might be the same but you get added staff and food in your own lobby all day long. The preferred pool is quiet and has GREAT service.
we stayed in the Preferred Club at St James - it seemed to be a quieter section of rooms, had less "loud" entertainment at night and during the day. Also there is a soak tub on the balcony (not a huge incentive). Lastly there is additional food in the lounge all day and until 10pm at night, great for snacking or a full meal. Mostly finger sandwiches and little things like that but also a small breakfast buffet and dessert all the time. There is also many liquor bottles out for you to make drinks (not a bar with a bartender) - though we didn't find booze hard to find at any point.
The preferred has much better pool chairs and the couch and bed are better too. They also have snacks and drinks both alcoholic and non all day in a room right off the doorways. You also get free WiFi which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't . They charge you $15 per day otherwise for it.
prefferred means you have access to different lounges, far softer towels, and different beach access. its a toss whether or not its worth it.
while there I really couldn't see an advantage..other than a different building and different color towel...same amenities and room make up
go standard --prefered is a joke
Preferred club you get free wifi, 24 hour bar and food in the lobby, free room service, advantage of all the pools on the property, with the exception that no one other than preferred club members can come to your pool. So when you want a private, relaxing day at the pool with no balls being thrown from games they're playing, the preferred pools are the place to be for peace and quite.
THE FLOOR AND THE VIEW JUST LET THEM NO WHAT YOU WANT
The advantage is room on the upper floors, access to the preferred club and pool
Save your monies. You will have a 5th of vodka, rum and brandy in your room, but you get all you want at the many bars on the 2 resorts. The preferred lounge is small and has a few appetizers and make it yourself drinks. They did not keep the breakfast items stocked you had to keep asking for them to bring more.

There is a Gift Shop on property.
nothing more than a bathing suit piece or two
yes...little shops right at the resort...slightly expensive though but you can buy just anout anything
they have some small stores but not sure what you mean by cloths
Yes. They have a mall, but don't get drunk like we did and buy something that looks terrible on you for $150 dollars, and try and take it back b/c there are no returns in Jamaica.
Yes, I did notice the boutiques selling dresses for women, shirts for men and t-shirts sold on the property.
yes nice shops on the property.
Some, limited amount but they are sold there.
What resorts have basketball courts?8 answers

The adults only resorts may be less likely to have a basketball court, we recommend looking at the Barcelo Complexes. Start with the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe in Punta Cana.
they say they do , but i did not see them
St James preferred has courts I know...but St James preferred club does not have a swim up room.
Secrets St. James has basketball and tennis courts
Did not see any. Volleyball as would be expected.
YES A FULL COURT AND GYM TO WORK OUT
Secrets st James and wild orchid are on the same grounds so they have basketball courts tennis courts gym spa and about 10 restaurants that you can go to whichever resort of the two your on.
I didn't see basketball courts.
Is room service included at no extra charge?11 answers
Is room service included at no extra charge? Also is the jerk chicken cart also included? Also, what are the food differences between regular guest and preferred?
2 years, 25 months ago
Your room service is included, as well as, the rest of your food and drinks at the resort. There aren't any food differences between what regular guests and preferred guests are offered (everyone has access to the same restaurants); however, if you choose a Preferred Club room, you'll get even more great perks, including private check-in/out, private pool, concierge service, upgraded bath amenities and Internet access in your room.
Room service is included at no extra charge however service is poor. Our sheets were never changed, dirty glasses not replaced, etc. The Jerk chicken cart is included and was the best food I had. No food differences between regular and preferred
yes , but they do expect tip . the cart has good chicken but do tip. do not know difference but prefered is a waste just walk into buiidng and use evreything -no one checks
The room service is only included on the preferred side. The breakfast room service is the best.
The jerk chicken cart is included. Go to the barefoot grill- that place is awesome.
A regular guest are in a different building on both the St James side and Wild Orchid side. Preferred can go in any pools and also has their own private pool that you can swim in. You have to have your room key with you, especially during the weekends b/c they check to see if you have a preferred key when you're on the preferred side. You get free room service when you're a preferred club. At the preferred club, you have a bar and food there 24 hours, free wifi on the preferred side. It's worth the extra money to be on the preferred side.
Room service is included at no extra charge order whatever you want off the menu and they do not charge you anything extra. Yes the jerk chicken cart on the beach is also included. Also the food at all the restaurants is included at no extra charge order anything off the menu tell your room number and they do not charge you. I do not think there is no food difference between regular guest and preferred the difference is in the rooms not the room. I stayed in the preferred rooms.
yes room service is included, the jerk chicken guy is included and don't waste your money on the preferred, there is no real difference. I have been here twice in two months (very unusual for me) and I loved it both times.
The room services is included at no charge. The jerk chicken cart is also included and DO NOT MISS IT! We hit it every day and it was the most awesome chicken I've every had! I wanted to bring him and his cart home with me! LOL
YES AND FAST
Rooms service is included 24 hours and so is the jerk cart. Preferred club gets extra perks like a tub on your patio , upgraded liquor and a private area with appetizers and desserts out daily. You also get use if a private pool if you want relaxation instead of games and music all the time. However, you have access to any pool. We thought it was well worth the extra money. We were waited in hand and foot and they did a great job!
There is no charge for room service or jerk chicken! We didn't see any difference in food choices.
Yes room service, mini fridge snacks and drinks are included. Food is same preferred or non. Only difference preferred club has a full bar downstairs make your own drinks and they also have breakfast buffet, lunch snacks and dinner snacks. Anyone can go to all restaurants. Preferred has soaker tubs on balcony and jacuzzi tubs in rooms. Also free wifi.
What can the resort coupons in the package be used for and how do I redeem them?10 answers
1 year, 21 months ago
If your reservation qualifies for this promotion, the $200 Resort Coupons will be issued upon check-in as follows:
* SPA - $100 in coupons issued in two (2) $40 coupons and one (1) $20 coupon, applicable for different visits each coupon. Coupons are not combinable and only valid one per treatment.
* ROMANTIC DINNER - *$60 in coupons for one romantic dinner issued in one (1) $40 coupon and one (1) $20 coupon. Coupons are not combinable and not valid for bottles of wine.
* WINE - $40 in coupons for bottles of wine at any of the resort restaurants issued in four (4) $10 coupons. Coupons are not combinable and are only valid one per bottle.
Spa coupons are for treatments and massages only and do not apply toward Beauty Salon services or the purchase of Spa Shop products. Additional restrictions may apply.
Coupons are not combinable and must be presented at the time you request your service or make a reservation. No deductions will be taken at check-out. Coupons are not valid for hotel concessions such as tobacco shop, gift shop, transportation services, spa products or activities. All coupons are non-transferable and non-refundable; there is no cash value for unused portions.
This offer is not combinable with any other offers or promotions and additional restrictions may apply. If all conditions are not met, $200 in Resort Coupons are not guaranteed. The Resort reserves the right to withdraw this promotion at any time without prior notification.
You can use the coupons towards spa services, romantic dinner and wine bottle purchases. No doubling of coupons though meaning one coupon per service. They want you to use a service more than once.
Really the only good ones are for the spa and bottles of wine. You can use them in increments of 40 a person for spa, and 10 off bottles of wine, cannot combine them though
The coupons are for the spa and for the romantic beach dinner. Pretty much useless.
$10 off a bottle of wine, $40 off spa treatments, $40 off romantic dinner
We got coupons for wine bottles - $10 off, but if you have the preferred club, that includes some wines, so this is only good if you want something off the wine list.
There were coupons for the spa. like $40 off, but the spa services were INSANELY high. I believe we were quoted $175 for a 50 minute Swedish massage and $165 for a 50 minute neck and shoulder massage. If you go to their presentation for the Repeaters Club, 90 minutes, they will give you an extra $100 in coupons. I think you just let them know you will be using coupons when you make the appointment.
They can be used towards the Spa, the romantic candle light dinner and their wine list. There is a set limit you can spend on each category. Example, we had $200 in resort coupons and only $80 could be spent at the Spa and had to be in $40, $20, $20 increments and can't be combined.
They will give you $100 to the spa BUT it is in $40, $40, $20, you cannot use the full $100 at one time. I think it was $20 for wine, but again, $10 and $10. Cannot remember the others

Do men have to wear dress pants in restaurants?11 answers
1 year, 20 months ago
The restaurants which are Casual Elegance, the resort requires sneakers, tennis shoes or dress sandals (no flip-flops). Long pants or shorts and dress shirts with sleeves are required for men. For more information regarding the dress code, we do suggest checking directly on the resort's website, https://www.secretsresorts.com/st-james-montego-bay.
Yes or dress shorts
Only at the French restaurant. And it's really more so long pants just no shorts or jeans.
Nope this is a very casual place
Even though the dress code for the restaurants stated that pants were required for men, I saw several there without. Since we opted to sit outside most of the time, I never wore pants, just shorts with casual shoes. I even wore shorts when we ate inside the World Cafe and Blue Mountain restaurants. I also saw some men with flip flops on. I was never questioned once about wearing shorts.
Only to the Asian and French
In the Bordeau Resturant inside only
It depends. One restaurant requires dress pants; however, sometimes the person at the door will relax the policy if you tell them you only brought shorts.
It is more casual than advertised. In most formal restaurants men just need to wear pants and shirt with color and no sandals. Women appeared in shorts and sandals but many did wear dresses.
Only to one of them, very leanient on that rule though
Only at the french restaurant and only if you dine inside. Outside dining is casual.
Only in the French restaurant

This resort offers domestic and premium brand wines and spirits. As amenities such as alcoholic brands are based on availability and subject to change, we do suggest contacting the resort directly as they would be best to assist with this inquiry. The email address from the resort's website to contact them directly is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anything you can imagine
Red Stripe and Red Stripe Light on draft but they have other flavors in bottles and cans, i.e., Miller Lite.
Red Stripe & Red Stripe light draft. Heineken in a bottle in the lobby bar. Most top shelf liquor, except tequila at all the lobby bars.
The beer selection is mostly Jamaican beer such as Red Strip but the sprit selection is massive. When you go try a Rum Punch, Bob Marley or Purple Rain.
They have an extensive bar selection - so you can get top shelf liquor... I had grey goose martinis. They also carried a variety of Appleton Jamaican rums which were good. Sometimes, a certain bar would be out of a specific liquor, but there are several bars bear each other.
The only beer I noticed was red stripe. No idea what other options there were.
Red Stripe and that is it and at none of the 10 bars we tried was it cold. Cheap liquor. One time I asked for additional rum and they got a different bottle: of lesser quality. Stingy with the booze!!!!
Some what limited. Red stripe beer on tap. Only one red and white wine is included. Wouldn't make sangria for me.
Single malt scotch grey goose vodka . There was nothin you requested was given
We took advantage of all inclusive so we had access to red stripe (beer), Jamaican rum, wine, and assorted vodkas
Do they offer transportation to Dunns River Falls?11 answers

If you do the excursion to Dunns River Falls they provide the transportation but I don't know about just going on your own. We went there on the excursion and it was amazing, it is definitely a must do! But it is a long trip from Montego Bay to Dunns River which is in Ocho Rios, it took us about 2 hours to get there but we stopped and picked up people from 5 other resorts on the way.
Yes, there is an on site travel company arranging pre-packaged and custom trips to anywhere on the island. Some appeared to be reasonable in cost
Excursions for Dunn's Rivers Falls can be purchased during the booking process of your CheapCaribbean.com vacation package or with the tour company while in destination.
Yes, but that is considered an excursion so there is a price per person charge.
Yes, through AMSTAR and Chukka tours. Great trip!
No, you can book an excursion or rent a very expensive taxi.
You can buy an excursion that includes transportation, It is about a half hour away. Warning, Dunns River Falls is more of an amusement park and less of a natural/beautiful site to visit... cab will run about $100US round trip before entrance to the falls.
Yes. Very expensive. Stay at a resort closer to falls.
Yes, they offer great tours that are reasonably priced through AmStar, who have reps at the front desk every day 8:30-5PM.
Yes. They will set it up for you. Not free.

Do the hotel provide transportation to and from the airport2 answers
3 months ago
This hotel does not provide transportation to and from the airport. Transportation can be purchased through our partner Amstar when booking a package on our site. There are 3 types of transportation offered. Shared transportation which rides with multiple guest for $18.00 per person. Private transportation for 1-2 guests for $50.00 per person. Private transportation for 3-7 guests for $87.50 per person. There are multiple vendors for transportation besides Amstar and also cab drivers. We highly recommended using a professional vendor such as Amstar.
I don't know if the hotel does, but you can purchase round trip transportation to and from the hotel when booking your trip through CheapCaribbean.

How far is the walk from the st. James suites to the restaurants?2 answers
I have seen that there is a bit of a walk from St. James to the restaurants and nightly entertainment. How far is that walk? Would it be worth it to stay at the Wild Orchid?
The resort is built in a way that the restaurants are within comfortable walking distance from any portion of the property. You may always request a room close to that area during the booking process and the resort will do their best to accommodate based on availability.
To be honest with you Secrets St. James and Secrets Wild Orchid are the EXACT same resorts located right next to each other. I would stay at whichever hotel has the cheaper rate as they are the same. The walk to the restaurants are probably a "city block" from St James. Not a far walk at all! Besides, you can walk right along the ocean to get to the restaurants, which can be very romantic!
