Epic Good Time

Just returned from Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort and it lived up to the thousands of viewers comments that we read prior to picking the resort. Very nice, clean, great views of ocean (pick a partial view room) the "ocean view" rooms face the afternoon blazing sun (can't sit out on balcony). Here's a few hints: pick partial view room if you want a chair/umbrella at beach get up before 6am or no luck eat at Coconut Joe's for breakfast (cheaper than hotel $5.99) must eat at Chicken Chicken (short walk from hotel) eat at Sunshine Grill (maybe a wait) Thursday's is steak night at Triple Crown Pub (tasty for $12) book your stingray tour with Sun Ray Tours (not Red Sail) rent a car from Andy's $60 for a day (right across from hotel) drive around the island buy your own liquor and snacks (hotel to expensive) walk down the beach to the Royal Palms especially Sunday evening avoid downtown when cruise ships are there - too crowded Enjoy the locals . . . eat, drink, and you'll have the best vacation!

Definitely not a Category 7 resort

Let me start by saying I am a longtime (20 years) Marriott honored guest member with many nights and points under my belt. I always try to stay at Marriotts when traveling. This was the biggest disappointment ever! The beach was ridiculously small. It was exactly the length of three beach chairs from the wall to the water. How do I know this, well you couldn't even walk between rows to get to chairs. They were also sandwiched in side to side as well! (see picture) Additionally, I've seen pools bigger in back yards. To top it off and by far the worst of it, our room type was not available when we arrived. Four of us were forced into a king room with a sofa bed and a rollaway, which made it impossible to move around in the room, as well as I'm sure a fire hazard! Front desk personnel were extremely unhelpful. I will not return to this resort and most likely will not visit Marriott properties again.

Excellent 7 mile beach property

Family and I spent 7 days over Spring break at this property. While the hotel was at 100% capacity, except for the pool and beach being somewhat crowded, all areas of the resort functioned very well. All the restaurants were very good from a quality of food and price standpoint and service was consistently excellent. Room and bath were in excellent shape and very clean and maid service was very good. Concierge and front desk staff went out of their way to be helpful and follow through each time we contacted them was excellent. Proximity to Georgetown and local restaurants was good and the local buses ( small vans ) were very convienent.

Great Experience!!!

My husband and I visited the Marriott Grand Cayman from 4/8-4/12/2013. It was awesome! Prior to going I had read some reviews that had me skeptical about staying at the Marriott. Our experience was nothing but positive. The most common complaints that I heard were that the hotel needed updating, the beach was small and the water was rocky. Well, I guess the hotel could be updated. They didn't have a lot of the gadgets that I've seen as some of the more upscale hotels but the decor was appropriate, clean and well maintained. Nothing was broken or falling apart. Regarding, the small, rocky beach...well, the beach was smaller than some others but it was quite sufficient. The water was rocky because there is a man made reef near the hotel that provides great opportunities for snorkeling in shallow waters. Considering all of the beautiful fish that I saw, it was worth it. All in all, I plan to go to the Cayman Islands again, and I would stay at the Marriott again in a heartbeat! Its a great resort for families and couples who just want to kick back and relax. The grounds are immaculate, the staff is friendly and accommodating. It was also our first experience booking a trip with Cheap Caribbean. The prices were awesome and everything went well, so I'd definitely book with them again.

What's to Love

Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort is centrally located on Grand Cayman's famous Seven Mile beach. Some of the best restaurants, shops, and night clubs and George Town is only 2 miles away from the resort.

What We'd Change

Don't forget to pack your sunscreen. It can be pretty expensive to purchase on the island.

Why You Should Go

With its extremely calm waters, it's the perfect location for family snorkeling. When they say steps away from the beach, they're not kidding!

Hotel Description

Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort: Snorkel and Play at Seven Mile Beach

It's time to leave your worries behind and give yourself the Caribbean vacation you've earned at Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort on the pristine, coral sands of world-famous Seven Mile Beach. This beach and its warm water is one of the best in the Caribbean for a reason: a reef perfect for snorkeling just a couple feet off shore! Dotted with lounge chairs and umbrellas, this sun-washed stretch of sand draws couples and families alike.

Running 85-feet along the beachfront, the pool at Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort is best enjoyed with a mai tai from the poolside Sol Bar, and couples love the hot tub or a romantic stroll in the lagoon-style courtyard with its lush plants. From classic Italian to international gourmet, there are plenty of choices after a long day in the sun. If seafood is what you're yearning for, the all-you-can-eat lobster meal on Wednesday nights is a sure hit at oceanfront Solana.

What better way to take advantage of the unbelievable water than jumping in for scuba diving, windsurfing, or sailing? You can also see underwater sights in one of the largest glass-bottom boats in the world, or you can take a trip on an Atlantis Submarine. If you really want to get up close and personal, book an excursion to Stingray City, where you literally get to swim with the fishes! If adventure by land is more your speed, an evening sunset ride on horseback, booked through Pampered Ponies, is just right for you. Tired from taking in the sights? La Mer Spa at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort gets you de-stressed and ready for more with a Phyto-Marine body therapy, which releases tension and boosts energy with seaweed-and-rich-marine-clay extract.

After a recent $15-million renovation, the five-story, 273-guestroom resort lets you unwind in style with the Deluxe Island View room. If you're traveling with kids, the Courtyard guestroom is spacious enough to sleep four and features a patio or balcony that overlooks the gorgeous tropical garden.

This hotel is NOT all-inclusive. Food and drink must be purchased separately.
