Just came back from this AMAZING resort and couldn't be any sadder. This trip was so perfect that it hurt to leave!!
The resort beat any of my expectations. We upgraded to the royal beach, which was very much worth it. The private check in was personal and professional. Our room was incredible as was our concierge.
The 24 hour room service was great! All the food in the resort was incredible, and was even able to accomodate a vegan such as myself. The staff is beyond professional, and the fine dining in the restaurants surpasses a lot of American restaurants!
Definently do the ziplining trip!!! It was beyond words, worth so much more than they are charging. Be sure to bring bug repellant tho, the horses flies are lethal! The whole day was beyond perfect, and the hot springs topped it off. The Maravillas combo is very similar, so be sure not to book both, and bring a rain coat or sweater because its cold up in the rain forest.
The ATV tour we purchased from the company on the beach, and it was great! The roads are dusty in the dry season so they supplied goggles, and were very professional. Not to mention it was the same price as the one offered on the resort, and we covered more territory.
Make sure to purchase the private transportation, or you will be paying $100 either way.
Other than that, this trip was INCREDIBLE. Can not wait to go back again!!!

SUPERB IN EVERY WAY!!!
Me and my husband just returned from a 6 day, 5 night stay and I can't say enough about the Westin resort. The property, people, food, activities, etc., are TOP NOTCH!! I have not one complaint about anything.
For a minimal amount, we upgraded to a Royal Beach room and although I have no idea what the standard rooms look like inside, I would highly recommend the upgrade. The room is a SUITE unlike any other I've stayed in.
If you want to vacation in paradise and be treated like royalty, go to Costa Rica and stay at the Westin. You won't be dissapointed!
The staff here is very attentive. I asked for and received a free room upgrade. The restaurants offer fine fare considering it is all inclusive. This resort has five restaurants however not all were open during every night of my stay, I believe this was due to the fact that I went during the off-season and occupancy didn't necessitate the need for that. I did, however, get the chance to eat at most of them and wasn't disappointed.
My only grievance was the noisy air conditioner that seemed to awake me every time it kicked on while I was sleeping.
The facility is rather expansive and getting around is made easier by the free point-to-point "taxi" service offered by the staff in modified golf carts. There are plenty of activities to engage in if your time permits - although the exotic excursions are offered at extra cost - but even these are affordable when compared to the cost others would charge here in the United States and other destinations in similar resorts. My advice to those considering the extra excursions, pay for and schedule those activities when you get to the resort, you'll save a few bucks and avoid scheduling conflicts as not all activities are offered every day, especially at this time of year.
Access to the beach is easy and there are plenty of things to do when you get there, i.e., kayaking, jet ski (extra cost), snorkeling, and bicycling.
I've been to other Caribbean destinations offering similar, all-inclusive packages and this resort is far and away the best experience I've had to date. I would definitely return here for the experience, value and beauty of this resort and this region in Central America
Recently we spent a week in this resort, and here are some comments, which may be helpful before you decide to book it:
1. The beach is beautiful due to nature, but you have to be prepared to share your space with crowds of local families, since the beaches in Costa Rica are all public. So there is no security on the beach, no life guards, etc.
2. Dinner in the main restaurant ("Mitra") is very everage: if you are not among the first who came early, you can find that there is not enough food (at least several dishes may be finished).
3. Service in the main restaurant is rather poor: you can wait for 10-15 minutes for a glass of wine.
We came to this resort several times when it was "Paradisus Playa Conchal", and it was definitely much better.

does the all inclusive hotel and flight include any meals like breakfast and lunch and dinner5 answers
2 years, 35 months ago
The all-inclusive package here, as with any resort, includes your daily meals, drinks, snacks, and non-motorized activities.
It includes every meal; even 24 hour room service is available
We went all inclusive to the Westing, all meals are included there, along with 24 hour room service also, and all meals were amazing, definately try the Italian and Thia, and the apple tart at the French and Latin restraurant were fantastic. No meals on the plane, not sure which part you were referring too. Definately at the resort you have to pay for nothing food, drinks, and alcohol all included.
Yes, it includes ALL food and drinks.
Yes the all inclusive included all the above. The breakfast was buffet style but very very good. Some foods can be prepared the way you want but all the food was of good taste and quality. Lunch is also buffet style as mentioned above and so is dinner if you don't want to hit up one of the 4-5 restaurants. You have to make reservation for all the restaurants but its very easy to do. I reserved all day and times to the restaurants that i wanted to attend the first day i got there so i wouldn't have to worry about it again. They also will pick you up and drive you to the restaurant so that u will not get lost and be there on time. Very nice the way its set up and the food was great everywhere!! If you go on an excursion you will be feed on the excursion by the people that host the excursion, they food is good with them as well.

golf course information2 answers
we are group of 25 senior golfers. what we concern most is about golf and food
send me details of golf courses such as rating, par , green fee, cart fee, extra 9hole charge and so on. transportation between hotel
Also do you have group rate for 25 ?
2 years, 31 months ago
We always reccommend contacting the hotel or golf course directly for specific information regarding the course itself. Cheap Caribbean does not book tee times. Since it is not a service that we provide, we do not have any information on pricing or transportation. The hotel phone number is (506) 2654-3300. Please note that it will be an international phone call from the US.
We did golf twice while there, we purchased a prior excursion which was golf so that was already paid for. If you stay at the resort you have a discounted rate, and if you golf after 1 it is discounted more. The golf course starts at the resort it's self. The cart and water are included. Meals were amazing but there are no areas serving food around the course.
Does the Royal Club rooms have Ocean View6 answers
2 years, 30 months ago
While a specific view is not specified with the Royal Club rooms, the view can be requested. Please keep in mind that room placement or view cannot be guaranteed.
No. None of the rooms at the resort have ocean views. (It's a public beach.)
Not that i observed. Some offer pool side views.
We stayed in a Junior suite, but I would be surprised if many of the rooms have an Ocean view, it is not a long walk but still a walk past the pools to get to the beach, the view of the grounds were amazing as well, even wildlife to see daily. Watch for the iguanas.
No, unfortunately they do not unless perhaps you are staying on the top floor (I was on the 3rd FL and didn't have an ocean view).
No, the two towers (3 stories) that make up the Royal Club do not have ocean views. Pool view is the best you are going to get. Very few bungalows have an ocean view at the end of the resort.
What kind of liquor is part of the all inclusive? Stoli, Kettle, Bacardi? MidShelf? Topshelf?3 answers
1 year, 24 months ago
The Westin Playa Conchal offers unlimited wines and premium brand liquors, but we are unable to comment on the specific brands as they are always subject to change.
Midshelf and topshelf are extra. For example, Chivas regal scotch is included, as is Johnny Walker Red. Johnny Walker black, green, gold and blue are extra. A shot of Johnny Walker blue was $54. Beer choices are limited to Imperial, Corona, and one other I can't remember (another local to C.R. like the Imperial).
They have Imperial (local beer) and they have topshelf at some bars but not all. The pool bars have midshelf. But if you are booking this place with liquor brands as your top priority then I would say you will be disappointed coz you will have to make it a task to find what bars serve the brands you like and travel to that bar for your brand instead of having fun at the bar where you are.
Is there snorkeling available at or near the resort?4 answers
We are interested in going snorkeling during our vacation
1 year, 22 months ago
Yes. Snorkeling is listed under the available amenities for this resort, so you can snorkel at the resort.
Yes..you can Schedule a Catamaran tour where you can snorkel in the Ocean and watch the sunset as well. That was actually the best tour we had.
Yes there is snorkeling. You can pay for a sailing, and snorkeling excursion by Lazy Lizard. They have an awesome crew and they have a great snorkeling spot free of jellyfish. They also feed you on the excursion and if anyone catches a fish they cook it right there on the boat and feed it to u if you like. You will get to see dolphins as well as see the sunset on the return trip to shore.
Yes... the resort offers free snorkel gear and you can snorkel right at the beach. If you want to check out a nearby cove, excursions from vendors on the beach are affordable. Ask for Pablo Valerin (red shirts just outside the gate).
Is the hotel on the beach?5 answers
Just want to know how close the beach is to the resort
1 year, 21 months ago
Westin Golf Resort & Spa, Playa Conchal is located on Conchal Beach. This is a busy, public and safe beach.
Yes, but most people lay by the pool instead of the beach as the beach is public.
The beach is right next to the resort. Walk out the beach entrance of the resort and you are on the beach.
The beach is right on the other side of the pool, maybe 20-30ft. Very close to the hotel.
Yes... because of the foliage, you have a beach view, not necessarily beach front if you stay in the Royal Beach villas by the main pool. Regardless, it's stunning. If you stay elsewhere on the property, it's a short walk or shuttle ride to the beach entrance.
Is this resort exciting and good for young couples?3 answers

They offer several act ivies including:
•Scuba diving excursions
The resort also has a specially trained water sports staff and nightly entertainment but the bars are all closed by 1am.
The Westin is wonderful and caters to the young and not so young. You can find many things to do from just staying at the resort or booking tours to see Costa Rica. Also, the restaurants are the best! We stayed for one week and would definitely go back again.
It was a blast! I am 22 and went with my boyfriend. Would not have changed a thing! Be sure to upgrade to royal beach club.

Can you use U.S. dollars at this resort for everything such as activities that are not included or tipping the bartenders.3 answers
10 months ago
Costa Rican currency is the accepted currency at this resort, American dollars can be used for tipping.
Absolutely! We never had to worry about currency exchange on or off the property. I would encourage you to talk to the vendors on the beach. Pablo Valerin (red shirts just outside the gate) took exceptional care of us. Definitely check him out... much better prices and personalized service. As far as tipping goes, the bartenders may take better care of you if you share a few US dollars with them. The dollar is stronger than the Colon.
Yes. The US dollars is fine for tips at the hotel. We had no difficulty paying with US dollar anywhere we went in guanacaste
You can use US money at the resort. You can charge everything to your room so you don't need to carry around money for activities or the gift shop.

are the general gratuities included in the all inclusive?1 answer
Have been checking into stuff and some all inclusive contain the gratuities. Need to know if the Westin does as well since we don't want to NOT tip nor do we want to overtip. Thanks
